Western Spell

Dress: Motel; Double buckled belt: Miss Selfridge; Clogs: Zara

After our two week long heatwave, the UK's showing its true colours and we've regressed to our all too familiar grey skies and torrential rain once more. Summer was very satisfying while it lasted though. Here's a dress I bought in the Motel sale recently, does anyone else love that site as much as I do?? For £15 I think it's a pretty decent bargain and you know I can't resist pleats. I wanted a punch of western in this outfit and strapped on a double buckled belt for just that, all I'm desperately missing is a black concho hat, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Festival Apparel Guide

Paisley shorts: Motel Rocks; Chuck Taylor All Star
Flowers, shorts, comfortable footwear, and an instant festival-ready outfit shall be yours! My cousins bought me these shorts from Motel Rocks as an early birthday present and they are genuinely my most favourite pair of shorts I have ever owned - there's absolutely no way I wouldn't fall in love with high-waisted, blue paisley print. I know a pair of converses are best kept dirty, but my shoes go through an annual wash and after this year's cleaning ritual, my 7 year old converses emerged as if brand new. So much so that they're photographing as a stark white pair when they're actually cream coloured...

Westwood Effect

Necklace: Vivienne Westwood; Shorts: F21; Wedges: worn here and here; Cardigan: worn here
I love the Vivienne Westwood orb and treated myself to this particular necklace over 4 years ago! Oh my how time flies... This is my favourite necklace from the entire jewellery range with the pearl choker coming in at a very close second. Summers usually aren't particularly warm here (even though today peaked at 30 degrees!) so I generally need to be wearing an outer layer whenever I leave the house, and this is where knit cardigans are most opportune. These shorts are also pretty dainty so I need something to just about show off the oriental floral print but also to cover up. I feel like this is a good festival outfit, what do you think?

Maybelline "The Eraser" Under Eye Concealer :: Beauty Review

As well as being the very first step in my make up routine, covering my dark circles is also one of the most important. I have such a complex with my panda eyes that I actually go back and cover them a second time before I set my entire face with powder. That being said, I am always on the pursuit of a miracle under eye product that'll "give the impression" (for one to realistically do so might be hopeful wishing) that I've banished dark circles once and for all, and this one does a pretty good job!

I know this particular concealer has been floating around the US for a while now, so I was eagerly anticipating its arrival in the UK. When the day finally came it was sold out EVERYWHERE, and I spent a good 2 weeks popping in and out of UK drug stores until they finally populated Maybelline counters once more (hooray!). This concealer treats the under-eyes with a combination of Goji berry and Haloxyl to reduce the look of puffiness and shadows, and is one I've been using for several weeks now with good things to say!

First of all, the formula and consistency of the product is so lightweight you can barely feel it on your face making it a dream to blend in. At the same time it gives a really satisfactory medium coverage with noticeable luminous effect. I chose shade "light" only because the other alternative was medium (both in Boots and Superdrug), fortunately there really is a lot to brighten up underneath my eyes and I find that it's a good match with my foundation.

One thing I particularly love about this is the sponge applicator. I've used many an under-eye concealer with doe foot applicators and find them too harsh and hard (almost painful), considering the under-eye area is the most sensitive part of the face. The sponge tip of Maybelline's The Eraser is in comparison, incredibly soft and gentle upon application. Although not one of the most hygienic applicators, it's definitely the softest.

All in all, I will be repurchasing, coverage and application feels and looks great for a price of £7.99 at Boots. On the other hand, I'd like to see a wider range in shades, and with the sponge soaked in product after several uses, it proves difficult to gauge how much product you're actually dispensing into the applicator with the click mechanism.

Folklore

Lilac skirt: Miss Selfridge; Top: H&M; Sandals: Faith; Flower crown: Primark

July felt so far around the corner I was convinced it would never arrive, yet here we are, halfway through the year already, and I'm furiously trying to squeeze more summer appropriate activities into my schedule before short-days-long-nights catch us by surprise again! Anyway, wearing my favourite skirt of the season. It's made of a rather sturdy/weighty fabric that doesn't blow up under the wind, delicately laced with fine gold thread to produce an enchanting golden shimmer in the light. I gravitate to everything that shimmers. Hope you're all having a beautiful week.

Wish List #4

I’ve always been more inclined to purchase and wear statement jewellery compared to delicate, intricate pieces, (that’s not to say I don’t like those either), but as general day-today wear you’ll often find me with a big necklace around my neck, or a bold ring on my finger. I enjoy playing with one substantial piece as an element of my outfit which exists in its own right, and oftentimes as a piece your eyes will be immediately drawn to.

I’ve recently come across Manguette, a store which opened in the early 80’s on Kensington Church Walk (hello all you Londoners!), and can currently be found on Gordon Place. The unique line carries statement pieces with strong tribal/ethnic vibes which I find really intriguing and currently very popular what with it being festival season, and for all you non-Londoners, Manguette’s e-commerce site (manguette.com) launched not too long ago for online perusing ;)

Crystals are very much on my radar atm, and instead of a single rock on a chain, the cluster of dark crystals in this necklace that seem to be infused with aqua colours, is beautiful.
